“When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 19:33-34 –
The bible is quite clear on immigration as we can see from the opening quote from this chapter. Simply put we need to do no harm to those who seek a better life . If we need further proof then we can look to Exodus 22:21, “You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. What this means is that those who undertake to harm the sojourns aka the immigrants are going against gods law. Now just because it is gods law doesn’t mean that we can have policy that protect Americans. If we are doing the Christian thing we can let immigrants into our country who want to work in the low skilled farm-hand jobs that most Americans don’t do. The thing is we just need to create a system of tracking and checking in where they gradually earn more freedom as they prove they are good folk. What we can do however is create a technologically advanced identity card that has the visitors photo and biometric data on it along with a built in cellular chip in it that relays location based information to a central database. This is by no means an expensive proposition a $10 prepaid phone from you local megastore could do this and much more. This simply method is what already used to track normal American who use cellphone when the call 911.
Adopting a solution such as this allows us to follow gods will while providing a technology based answer to ensure we know who is in our country and where.
